GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS

Worship Committee
This group meets three or four times a year to
discuss and plan the liturgical life of the
parish, the use and formation of the sacred
space and other issues relating to worship.
The group is made up of some permanent members
and some members who share membership with
others in the ministry groups that they
represent. (Co-ordinator: The
Rector)
Stewardship & Finance
Committee
This committee is mandated
to guide the parish through its annual
stewardship review and program. It assists
in establishing the annual budget, preparing the
program materials and presenting the program to
the congregation.
(Co-ordinator: The Treasurers)
Greeters
The Greeters are on hand
every Sunday for the 10:30 service to welcome
worshippers and to distribute the Sunday
bulletin and assist visitors and new comers.
They also identify to those administering the
sacrament people in the congregation who wish to
receive communion at their seats. After the
service, they deliver flowers from the liturgy
to shut-ins at home, or in hospital.
(Co-ordinator: Parish Administrator)
Servers
This
group welcomes both children and adults to their
fellowship. They assist at the main Sunday
Eucharist,
and at services on other holy days, helping in
the set up and clean up of the altar, lighting
and carrying candles and carrying the
processional cross and banner in procession.
(Co-ordinator: Andrew Irving)
Readers and
Intercessors
Members of the
congregation take turns in acting as
Readers of the Old Testament lesson and the
Epistle at the Sunday service. They also act as
Intercessors by preparing and leading the
prayers of the people during the service.
(Co-ordinator: Parish Administrator)
The Gallery Choir
Accompanied by a
three-manual Cassavant organ and a 20th century
tracker organ, the Choir leads the congregation
in the singing of hymns and psalms, as well as
performing an anthem, each Sunday. New members
in every vocal range are always welcome.
(Director: Angus Sinclair)
Communion Assistants
Some parishioners are
commissioned yearly to act as
Communion Assistants by administering the
bread or wine at communion during the Sunday
liturgy.
(Co-ordinator: The Rector)
The Chronicle
The
Chronicle Staff write, edit and produce on a
quarterly basis the Cronyn Chronicle, the parishs newsletter that contains parish news,
upcoming events and opinion pieces.
Submissions by any member of the parish are
encouraged. (Editor: Marion Jenkins)
Screening In Faith Team
The
Screening in Faith and Safe Church Team
ensures that
Bishop
Cronyn
Memorial
Church
is a safe and holy place for all whom our
ministry affects. It is our policy that all staff and volunteers,
lay and ordained, who come into contact with children, youth and
vulnerable people be screened in a manner appropriate to the
ministry or job being undertaken. (Co-ordinators: Anne Henry & Fr.
Rae)
The
Global Gourmet Group
A group of
energetic, talented and /or more seasoned members of our parish who
believe that Cronyn needs to have a social milieu several times a
year to provide members of our parish with an opportunity to develop
and maintain The Cronyn Family by meeting together and sharing our
families and lives' journeys in the true spirit of our
Christian Community. These dinners are highlighted by an
international theme and menu coupled with mingling, conversation,
music, dance, costume and any other “spirit” we are able to muster.
We always have door prizes and more recently a targeted fund raising
project to support our stewardship responsibilities to our parish.
Traditionally we have held a cocktail hour first
in the Davision Lounge followed by a festive dinner in the parish hall in the
lower level.
'
Many members of the parish assist with the
cocktail hour appetizers or dinner preparation by selecting one or two recipes
from the menu in the place of or in addition to their ticket price for the
evening.
Those who have attended these
events have always reciprocated with very positive feedback, good ideas and
suggestions for future events. To quote some of our attendees; “Enjoyed the
spirit of love,” “Great to meet people and great food,” “Great food and
fellowship,” “Décor and atmosphere created were excellent,” “Great evening…more
of the same.”
Since
many hands make light work we are always looking for new members for
our working group. If you have a little time, talent, brute strength or just
like to help out please let us know. Generally we are looking for help with
Marketing, Financial, Transportation, Decorating /Theme Development, Kitchen
Support , Setting-up, Portering, Serving and Clean-up. If you can help with any
of these functions please call the parish office.
