OUR STYLE OF WORSHIP
The Language of Worship
Here at Bishop Cronyn Memorial Church
we recognize that at various
times in history people have understood and related to God in
different ways. These have been reflected in the images and
language of worship. We receive these expressions as a
reflection of the heritage of faith received by the community.
In our own time, some find that other images of God are meaningful
as found in contemporary translations and inclusive language.
We receive these as a witness of faith added to the heritage that we
pass on to future generations.
We welcome all these, together with more personal and familialexpressions;
our goal is to enrich, not replace, the living tradition of
Christian prayer. Our services may reflect either, or both of
these traditions respecting the various ways in which people express
their experience of God.
The Style of our Worship
The Worship life at Bishop Cronyn Memorial is both varied and
lively. While retaining the dignity and much of the historical
character of Anglican liturgy, the community has developed a relaxed
style that is open to experimentation, and new and meaningful
expressions of our faith that provide opportunities to celebrate
with joy the great moments of life. All the liturgies at
Bishop Cronyn Memorial use the Book of Alternative Services
Contemporary forms.
