SAINT FRANCIS MEMORY GARDEN
In the Fall of 2007, the community
approved the development of the gardens along the Queens Ave side of
the church as a "pet cemetery" to be called The St. Francis Memory
Garden. This space offers a tranquil location for those who
have lost beloved pets to put the cremated remains of their animal
companions to rest. A short liturgy of thanksgiving for the gift
of companionship and joy brought into our lives by our animal
friends accompanies each interment or scattering of ashes.
The names of those pets who rest in the
garden are inscribed in a book found in the narthex of the church
beside the statue of St. Francis.
The use of the Memory Garden is open to
anyone who wishes to take advantage of this ministry. We
encourage (but do not require) a donation at the time of interment to assist in
the maintenance of the gardens.
