ANGLICAN GARDEN PROJECT 2010 |
|
Anglican parishes in London have joined together to begin growing vegetables in city garden plots in order to help supply the Friendship Centre, run out of St. Paul's Cathedral, feed the hungry of London.
In March, 2010, the Centre served 4,178 lunches to those in need, and in January and February spent in excess of $11,000.00 to supplement donations.
Nine city parishes have come together to help tend the plots on Ann Street in London, to grow food on their church properties, and encourage parishioners with gardens to dedicate a portion of their gardens to growing food to donate to the Friendship Centre.
At the moment, these parishes include St. Aidan's, St. Luke the Evangelist, St. John the Evangelist, Bishop Cronyn Memorial, St. John the Divine, St. Jude's, St. Martin in the Field, St. Stephen Memorial and Church of the Hosannas.
