As a Faith Community
-
¨ We
walk the path of Jesus. Through the study of Scripture,
reflection and attentiveness to the activity of God
around us, we celebrate God’s presence in the world by
respecting the earth and encouraging each person’s
journey with God, even if it differs from our own.
-
¨ We
rejoice in both the sacred and the secular, the human
and the non-human world around us and express this joy
in worship that is genuine, vibrant, creative and
spiritual.
-
¨ We
treat all persons as made in God’s image, regardless of
race, gender, orientation, age, ability, nationality or
economic class, and we commit ourselves to standing, as
Jesus does, with the outcast, oppressed, denigrated and
afflicted, seeking justice and peace with or without the
help of others, no matter what the cost to us.
-
¨ Aware
of our own shortcomings, we exercise our ability to
speak prophetically to government and society around us,
seeking to call forth the best in others, including
those with whom we disagree.
-
¨ Our
common life is based on the fact that all people are
loved by God beyond our wildest imagination.
This lets us claim the sacredness of spirit,
mind, heart and body as we live out our purpose to
strengthen and extend God’s realm of love.
-
¨ As
stewards of all that we have been given, we recognize
our responsibility to use our money, our buildings, and
our skills and abilities in the service of God, the
service of one another, and the service of those in the
world around us.
