Bishop Cronyn Memorial Church A PLACE FOR ALL PEOPLE |
|
A Place for those who need Freedom:If you are feeling intimidated or angry because of religion, please know that in the community of Bishop Cronyn Memorial, you are free from the misuse of Divine revelation. We live in an age of religious struggle that often results in spiritual tyranny. It is a time when, in the name of religion, some seek to hold power over others. Here you will find persuasiveness rather than coercion. Here operates an unconditional surrender to the freedom of God to speak to whomever in whatever words are understandable. Here you can walk the path of life to the tune of the Spirit which you uniquely hear. Freedom from religious control is granted you. The community welcomes everyone and promises this glorious freedom of God as the climate in which to explore the healthiest living that faith affords. |
A Place to be yourself:If you feel hesitant to join the ranks of a particular denomination or buy into the creeds of millions, please know that most people who worship at Bishop Cronyn Memorial do not come from a single background. The rule of the community is the stranger making himself or herself at home. All names are sacred here but no one has to contribute ones name to a membership list to be taken seriously. Perhaps you want to reconnect your relationship with God. Or to confess shame. Or to surrender a burden. Or pray for a loved one. Or to get caught up in the excitement of worship. Or to meditate on a hard personal dilemma. Or find a moment away from the world. We offer spiritual space in which you may make your pilgrimage. |
A Place of being together as one:If you feel that life is fragmenting into a vast number of irreconcilable, shattered pieces, then please know that the Community of Bishop Cronyn Memorial holds an outrageous hope that, in God alone, all aspects of life are in unity. We believe that God is the Alpha, so in the beginning all aspects were in unity with God. God is the Omega, so at the end all aspects will be in unity with God. Now in the meantime, in this world, this unity exists in the brave hope of those who worship God. Our community seeks to keep this hope of ultimate unity alive. So we are called to extravagant hospitality to all people in the confidence that a gracious welcome is central to the purpose of the Christian community. Yes, we are part of a specific religious tradition (Anglican). But we are so, not because one religious tradition exclusively contains all truth, but because when one goes on a long journey toward ultimate unity, one has to depart from one specific place. The Community of Bishop Cronyn Memorial, is our point of departure. Our companion and ultimate confidence is in the journey of Jesus Christ. We believe him to be the clear manifestation of Gods love for the whole world and the expression that all life is in ultimate unity even beyond death. In the midst of what appears to be an ever-increasing fragmentation of life, we offer a Community of welcome to all people, and an abiding hope that there is a oneness at the center of life. When you visit, or come to stay, the community of Bishop Cronyn Memorial pledges you this freedom, this ability to be yourself, this oneness with others. May your journey be blessed. |
